• EU policy: been a consulting adviser on EU and French policy matters, involving frequent travel to Brussels and Paris.
• Westminster and Whitehall: a wide range of contacts in Westminster and Whitehall, through his involvement from 1991 until 1999 with the cross – party Future of Europe Trust. He provides advice on defence matters to a major political party.
• City of London: understands the City of London, having worked in the London insurance market, mostly in Lloyd’s, in the North American non-marine market.
• Speechwriting: writes speeches and notes for speakers addressing European and defence related topics.
• Writing: has written and ghost written a variety of articles on European, foreign and defence policy matters since 1990.
• Languages: good spoken French.
